Watershed Management Committee

Mission Statement

Lead the development of watershed management strategy for the guidance of NAFSMA members and similar public service agencies. Committee Goals

1) Facilitate Federal, state and local agency approaches to ensure a consistent approach to watershed management.
2) Clearinghouse and educational resource for watershed management projects and information (e.g., provide toolbox of watershed management strategies for NAFSMA members).
3) Be a technical resource and serve as a liaison to lobby Federal agencies and Congress as necessary on watershed management issues, such as:

CWA reauthorization (NPS)
TMDL
USACE nationwide permits
Challenge 21
Water goal standards advanced proposed rulemaking
Watershed permits.

4) Pursue communication with private sector interests in order to involve all stakeholders.
