Flood Management Committee The Flood Control Committee coordinates and resolves member issues related to federal flood control programs and funding . The committee maintains active liaison relationships with the Army Corps of Engineers and other federal agencies responsible for federal flood control programs and funds. Particular emphasis is on the Water Resources Development Act, the PL566 program and similar public safety programs. Floodplain Management Committee The Floodplain Management Committee
tracks and influences federal legislation and regulations that affect
NAFSMA member's floodplain management programs. This includes the National
Flood Insurance Program (mapping Issues, LOMRs, CLOMRs, insurance, national
mitigation strategy, community rating sytem and levee policy), "all
hazards" insurance and "takings" legislation. The Committee
acts as FEMA liaison and coordinates with the Association
of State Floodplain Managers on issues of mutual interest. Watershed Management Committee The Watershed Management Committee identifies and resolves watershed managment issues of concern to membership. The committee also complies and monitors watershed management activities as they develop across the nation. Those activities include watershed planning, watershed management, mandated programs and development of permits. Stormwater Committee The Stormwater Committee identifies and addresses stormwater quality and quanity issues affecting local governments including tracking, evaluating and making recommendations regarding federal legislation and regulations. The committee coordinates with other associations such as the National League of Cities, National Association of Counties, U.S. Conference of Mayors, National Governors' Association and American Public Works Association regarding stormwater quality and quanity management issues. |
