In partnership with the Flood Control District of Maricopa County, AZ; the City of Tucson, AZ; Riverside County Flood Control and Water Conservation District and the Federal Emergency Management Agency/DHS, NAFSMA will on April 26-27, 2010, be holding the fourth in its series of regional mentoring sessions. Titled Two Days in the Arid Southwest, the meeting will be held at the Hyatt Regency, located at 122 North Second Street, in downtown Phoenix. Subjects for the Phoenix sessions will include water resource quantity(flood control), quality (stormwater) and general subjects where the sponsoring agencies have found success. An update on FEMA's Risk MAP initiative will also be presented.
The format is designed to be interactive and hands-on, with sessions to be conducted in small groups with a focus on what can be taken away and applied within your organizations. The session is open to both NAFSMA members and non-members, as well as public and private agencies. There will be a modest fee of $50 to help cover expenses and travel stipends are available to out-of-town public agencies on a first come, first served basis, with one $250 stipend available per public agency. Registration and program information is attached. Please register for this unique and informative opportunity by April 12, 2010. For questions on the Phoenix meeting, please contact Susan Gilson in the national office at sgilson@nafsma.org or 202-289-8625.
