Flood Risk Management Agency-to-Agency Mentoring Session
Sugar Land, Texas – June 6, 2013

The National Association of Flood and Stormwater Management Agencies (NAFSMA) is sponsring an Agency-to-Agency Mentoring Session in Sugar Land, Texas, on Thursday, June 6, 2013 in cooperation with the Federal Emergency Management Agency, Fort Bend Flood Management Association, Harris County Flood Control District, San Antonio River Authority, and Tarrant Regional Water District.

The registration fee for this meeting is $100. Lunch and continental breakfast are included in the registration fee.

The Agency-to-Agency mentoring session precedes the Fort Bend Flood Management Association’s Flood Risk Symposium, which will be held in Sugar Land on Friday, June 7.

Key topics to be addressed at the June 6 mentoring meeting, which will begin at 8:30 a.m. and run through 4:30 p.m. will include:

  • FEMA Coastal Maps, with a focus on Galveston and Houston maps
  • Map Update, including how to carry out map updates, from Harris County Flood Control District and San Antonio River Authority
  • Project Updates – Trinity River and Westside Creek Pilot Study
  • Update on FEMA Risk MAP, Bigert Waters 2012 NFIP Reforms (including update on new actuarial rates for NFIP, the Levee Analysis Mapping Program (LAMP) and recent National Research Council recommendations on LAMP.
  • Flood Risk Management Emergency Warning and Planning Approaches
  • Water Resources Development Act Issues and Update
