NAFSMA Excellence in Communications Awards Nominations Due by July 30

This week the National Association of Flood and Stormwater Management Agencies’ (NAFSMA) announced that its accepting nominations for the association's sixth Excellence in Communications Awards Program. The awards recognize public service and outreach work by local, regional, state and private agencies to educate the public about the protection of lives, property and economic activity from the adverse impacts of storm and flood waters.

NAFSMA's Excellence in Communications Awards will be given in two categories:  Public Awareness of Flooding and/or Flood Prevention and/or Emergency Preparedness (campaign and/or individual items) and  Improving Water Quality (campaign and/or individual items).

Nominations for the awards are due by July 30, 2014 and must highlight an effort that was produced between January 2012 and June 2014. Winning campaigns will be honored at NAFSMA’s 2014 Annual Meeting in Boston, MA, on Thursday, October 16. All nominations will be highlighted in a presentation and compiled on a DVD that will be shared with other local, regional, state, and federal agencies throughout the country.

NAFMSA members, and other interested parties, can submit nominations using this application form and supporting materials. NAFSMA has also created a one-page document that provides an overview of the program and its requirements.
