FathomDEM+ is an enhanced digital elevation model developed by Fathom, a private flood risk data company. The technical session will cover the dataset's data sources, U.S. coverage, validation methodology, and RMSE metrics, explaining how recent improvements affect both absolute and relative terrain precision.
Fathom will also explore what these enhancements mean for flood modelers in practice, including more accurate flood extent mapping, better depth estimates, and more reliable risk assessments. The session will conclude with a real-world case study demonstrating the data's application.
As NAFSMA members have found, products like FathomDEM+ can complement official FEMA mapping programs by filling gaps where regulatory data is outdated or unavailable.
