Apply for a NAFSMA Award

Eligibility

• Projects started after January 1, 2024 and completed by March 12, 2027
• Public agencies (any service population) and private firms are both eligible
• Partnered projects: list all entities and contact information; only one award per designated lead

Submission Requirements

• Submit one PDF (max 5 MB) to jennifer@nafsma.org by Friday, March 12, 2027 (11:59 PM EST)
• File naming convention:
  • Innovation: AgencyName_ProjectName_innovation
  • Communications: AgencyName_ProjectName_communications

Communications Award — Submission Categories

Check one of the following on your application:

1. Public Awareness of Flooding, Flood Prevention, and/or Emergency Preparedness
   • Communication Campaign
   • Individual Item (brochure, commercial, billboard, etc.)
2. Improving Water Quality
   • Communication Campaign
   • Individual Item

Innovation Award — Required Written Sections

Word limits per section. Total written explanation: 3,000 word maximum.

• Project Description (500 words; include plan or diagram)
• Project Benefits — Multi-Purpose Benefits (500 words)
• Economic Impact (400 words)
• Outreach Efforts (400 words)
• Results (500 words)
• Continued Functionality (400 words)
• Conclusion (300 words)

Communications Award — Submission Includes

• Completed application form
• Project description (with associated production/distribution costs)
• Written explanation of why the submission should be considered (500 words max)
• Project examples (PDFs for print materials; URLs for video/audio)
• Outreach efforts description (400 words max)
• Impact, effectiveness, and outcome
• Measurable reach metrics
• Project success conclusion
